Hill Pluviose served in the Marines from 2002 to 2006. After basic training in Parris Island, South Carolina, he completed his Marine Combat Training and Military Occupational Skills school at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina. Hill then served in Okinawa, Japan, for one year before coming back to Lejeune to deploy to Iraq with 2nd Marine Logistics Group as a corporal where he managed a team of ten Marines. Leaving the Marine Corps in 2006, Hill continued to support the military’s effort in Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan in the field of Electronic Warfare.

 

Inspirational Person: “The military general that stands out to me the most is general Toussaints L’ouverture of St. Domingue. Toussaint was born on a plantation in St. Domingue (now known as Haiti). He served in the French Army to help defeat the Spanish and then trained the enslaved African population on the island to defeat the French to make Haiti the first black republic in the world. Toussaint believed freedom is the rights of all humans”, says Hill Pluviose.
